A weather app iOS & iPadOS on the App Store Android on Google Play macOS coming soon Web coming soon
Most weather apps
tell you what.
This one tells you why.
Sensecast reads the weather the way a meteorologist would and then explains it the way a person would. It routes to the agency that actually models your terrain. Every number on the screen can teach you what it means, and live tornado and power-grid warnings run underneath the forecast.

What it actually is
Three things you won't
find in a weather app.
The provider count gets the attention, but it is the smallest part of the story. Sensecast teaches you the atmosphere, watches the hazards that actually reach your house, and never pretends a forecast is a single number.
A weather school inside the forecast
Every metric on the dashboard carries an information button. Tap it and you get the sensation analogy first, the safety scale second, and the actual physics third. Go as deep as you want.
- 43-topic searchable glossary across six categories
- Plain-language analogies before any equation
- Steadman, Rothfusz, Rayleigh scattering and EPA breakpoints for the curious
- Tooltips switch off entirely once you know it

Hazards that reach your house
Live tornado touchdowns from the Storm Prediction Center. County-level power outages from federal open data, plus a weather risk score for the local grid. Earthquake, wildfire and tropical cyclone trackers sit on the same dashboard.
- Tornado & convective tracker on live NOAA SPC reports
- Weather risk score from gusts, ice, storms and extreme temperatures
- Local utility directory with one-tap outage hotlines
- Earthquake, wildfire and hurricane trackers, each with distance and bearing
- Pro Hazard Map — reports, warnings, quakes, fires, outages and aurora on one map
- Storm reports with a checkable Ref ID you can hand to an insurer

The agency that knows your terrain
Smart routing does not push one global model everywhere. It detects your location and hands off to the service that actually models it. Across the US that is NOAA and the NWS. Elsewhere it is MET Norway for fjords, HKO for typhoons, or Météo-France's 1.3 km AROME grid in Western Europe.
- Automatic by default; override it whenever you like
- 15 forecast sources free; 3 flagship supercomputer models with Pro
- Compare any of them side by side when you want a second opinion
- Bring your own key for OpenWeatherMap or WeatherAPI

An example
Dew point, the way Sensecast explains it.
Relative humidity moves with the temperature and tells you almost nothing on its own. Dew point holds still. This is the exact scale the app shows when you tap the information button on that tile.
And the rest of it
Built for people who
actually look outside.
The background is the forecast
A physics-driven canvas renders the current condition — raindrops with splash rings, drifting cloud layers, snow, fog, lightning, starfields. It follows the solar arc from your coordinates through dawn, day, sunset and night.
Two hours back, ninety minutes forward
Scrub live reflectivity with a play head and a dBZ legend running light drizzle through hail, over a dark map. Past sweeps, the live composite and a forward nowcast in one control — every tile cached to disk, so scrubbing never flashes black.
Alerts your body already knows
Push notifications when barometric pressure drops 3 hPa or more in three hours. That threshold alters sinus and inner-ear pressure — the trigger for migraines and arthritic joint pain.
Storm verification reports
Generate a report with its own reference ID for the date and time of a storm. It holds archived hourly weather for your location, the nearest airport station’s measured gusts, the NWS warnings in effect, and grid status. Export it as an image or text for property and solar claims.
Home screen, lock screen, Dynamic Island
Small, medium and large home-screen widgets on both platforms, plus all three iOS lock-screen shapes. A Live Activity keeps conditions in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen without opening the app. Android renders a live numeric temperature glyph in the status bar itself, alongside a Quick Settings tile. Pro adds five colour themes per widget. Pro Weather Wallpaper can carry the same weather to your device's own wallpaper.
Stays on the device
Location and preferences are held on-device. Forecasts come from public government open-data endpoints, so no account is needed and no profile is being built.
On the phone
Not a mockup.
Every screen below is a real capture from the current build, live data and all. That includes a storm verification report with its own reference ID.
Dashboard
Conditions, and who said so
The source is named on the card, not buried in settings, next to the time it last updated. Any active NWS advisory sits right below it.
Doppler radar
Past, live and nowcast
Live reflectivity on a dark map with a color scale and a play head. Jump between the past loop, the live composite and the forward nowcast.
Widget Board
Two dashboards, one switch
A "Widget Board Layout" switch in Settings turns the dashboard into a board of glass home-screen widgets. Your choice persists between launches.
Tap to learn
Three layers, every metric
Analogy, then the banded safety scale, then the equations if you want them. This is the sheet the site's academy page describes.
Weather Academy
A glossary you can search
Twenty topics, four category filters, and a search box that covers terms, models and physics.
Storm reports Pro
Evidence with a verifiable reference number
Reference ID checkable at sensecast.app/verify, GPS coordinates, jurisdiction and a chosen observation window — exportable for a claim.
The manifest
Where the numbers come from.
Free, with no key of your own: 15 national services, open-data models and two commercial providers. With Pro: 3 flagship supercomputers. Korea's KMA and Australia's BOM are listed too, but their feeds are paused at the source. Every reading in the app is attributed to the agency that produced it.
